TCA Land Acknowledgement Statement

Twin Cities Academy is built on the homeland of the Wahpekute [“wah-PEH-koo-tay”] Dakota peoples. Our vision and mission celebrates the diversity of our community, and we must acknowledge that our existence is at the cost of the Wahpekute’s territory and homeland. We stand on land where colonization and genocide happened, and we acknowledge that our Indigenous students and families are still vital and important parts of our community.  Twin Cities Academy is committed to educating about past and current issues that impact Indigenous communities. We ask that everyone use this statement to acknowledge the Wahpekute [“wah-PEH-koo-tay”] Dakota people, seek out education on colonization’s impact on Indigenous people, and engage in the work to support Indigenous Minnesotans.
