High School Graduation Requirements

High School students must earn a total of 25 credits by taking elective and required subjects, demonstrating learning and mastery in all content areas in order to graduate. Credit requirements are aligned with Minnesota state standards and college entrance requirements. Students must volunteer 20 hours per year in order to meet graduation requirements.


4 Years – English (same aligned with state)

3.5 Years – History/Social Studies (same aligned with state)

  • World History 9

  • US History 10

  • Econ/Civics 11

  • Geography (1 semester) 12

3 Years – Science (down 1 credit but aligns with state)

  • Biology

  • Chemistry

  • Physics

(all three have some of the Earth Science requirements in them)

1 Year – Phy Ed/Health

4 Year – Math (same as current – 1 year more that state requirement)

1 Year – Fine Arts

1 Semester – Personal Finance/Elective (requirement beginning for 10th graders in 2025-2026 doesn’t impact graduation for 11th or 12th graders)

2 Years – World Language

6.5 Elective Credits – includes High School Seminar to replace Advisory (1.0 credit course)

Advisory (0.5 credit) was 2 cr. in 4 years and now will be 4 cr. in 4 years (1.0 credit)  – credit requirement will be grandfathered in, with the class of 2029 meeting the full requirement.

80 hours of volunteering/community service

 

21.5 is state requirement of credits to graduate and TCA requires 25 credits to graduate
