Statement of Student Support:
Schools are reflections of our communities. Our communities are struggling. TCA is angered by the police shooting in Brooklyn Center that killed Daunte Wright. We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones and to all who have been impacted by the unnecessary and tragic loss of yet another Black man.
Events like these can understandably trigger trauma in children who are trying to make sense of the world around them. The most recent events include the recent shootings in Boulder, Atlanta and Chicago, as well as the recent trial for the justice of George Floyd.
At Twin Cities Academy, we are:
-Listening to our students to better understand what they are feeling, seeing and hearing
-Providing them with safe spaces to process and reflect on these current events
-Offering additional supports and resources for students as needed
We are committed to addressing the inequities that exist in our school. This work requires an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, as well as equity in education for all students. We look forward to partnering with our families, our students, and our community members as we continue with this necessary work.
