Distance Learning/COVID 19 Resources
During these unprecedented times, TCA will be offering Distance Learning through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year per the Governor’s executive order 20-41. This page will provide all the updates, procedures and policies associated with Distance Learning. This page will also provide resources for families to access throughout the community to help with the inevitable stresses this COVID 19 pandemic brings to all of us.
Distance Learning Plan
Distance Learning Plan Summary
All students will be invited to all their current classes through Google Classroom. All instruction and homework will be assigned through Google Classroom. Students should use their TCA assigned email account to access Google Classroom. Middle School students will have two to three hours weekly per class of instruction and assignments. High School students will have three to four hours weekly per class of instruction and assignments. Instruction for students with IEPs/504s may be modified in collaboration with the family, student and IEP/504 case managers.
Attendance During Distance Learning
Attendance will be taken every Friday for the week by teachers. Absences will be recorded by 4 p.m. Fridays for the week for any student who has not engaged at all during the week. Engagement means having some contact with the teacher during the week. Examples of contact include emailing, texting or speaking to the teacher, scheduling a meeting with the teacher, participating in a live meeting, asking a question, and/or turning in an assignment on the Google classroom.
Families will receive an email on Fridays if their student was marked absent for the week for one or more classes – the email includes information for which the classes their student was marked absent.
Late Work During Distance Learning
Since the Distance Learning model at TCA is designed to be flexible (students may do their work at any time during the week, and are not required to log in during the regularly schedule class time), late work will not be penalized for quarter 4.
Grading During Distance Learning
Students earning As and Bs during 4th quarter will have the grade posted on their transcripts as normal. Students earning Cs and Ds during 4th quarter will receive a Pass, with no impact on their GPA. Students earning an F during 4th quarter will earn a No Credit, with no impact on their GPA. Grading in IC will continue to show the actual letter grade. Grades will be adjusted to the Distance Learning grading policy at the end of the quarter.
If a student is in need of technology, either a device or access to the internet, please contact Andrew Gorrell at email@example.com or leave a message on our main office number 651-205-4797.
